In a distant star system, a team of research scientists from the Tellurian Federation are studying an ionic storm that threatens to destroy all of the local planets. Assisting them on the mission is Dombey-9000, a robot built by the United Robotics Corporation. One of the scientists, Dr Gel Eliot, frightened by the implications of the galactic tempest, seeks a way to preserve the human spirit for time everlasting. But her actions are not only unorthodox but highly illegal. . . .

Wonderful Sci-Fi tale in the best tradition of the masters. As really good Sci-Fi should, this one had me asking myself a lot of questions about what the definition of life is, how perhaps the definition should be expanded somewhat (and most assuredly will be if the future is anything like the one serving as the background for this story), the meaning of life, purpose of life, what exactly is love, etc. It has been a long time since a well crafted science fiction story held me by the hand and encouraged me to explore these questions with the author, who strikes me as a kindred spirit. Expect to feel deeply "stirred, not shaken" (with apologies to Ian Flemming ...) with more than a touch of poignancy.Product details

Dombey9000 A SciFi Short Story edition by J G McGovern Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Unrequited, of course. A very probable extrapolation of humans love of technology and the love that is put into It .
A OK book did not trip my triger
As a fan of sci fi short strories this was an enjoyable story with a twist at the end. Worth the time.
I consider this to be a very good "make you think and stay with you kind of story". Love that there no violence, blood not event a evil character. Good job. Thank you.
I like philosophical science fiction that makes you ponder grand future concepts and on that front this short delivers. This story noodles a known fact, that humans will be extinct at some point. It may be millions or billions of years but the sun will die or there will be some other extinction level event. This short posits what will become of our history, will we be remembered?
